The general salary range for this position is $79,600-$119,400. Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training and education.

Humane World for Animals, a global leader in animal advocacy and protection, is seeking a Program Director, Special Events for the Events department. In this position you will direct the creative vision, logistics and execution of fundraising and donor cultivation events for the organization. Oversee vendor contracts and management, promotional materials development, manage and track event expenses, prepare return on investment reports. Cultivate and steward major donors and donor prospects through Humane Journeys trip execution. Serve as liaison for special events team cross-departmentally across Humane World, maximizing event and trip promotion and collateral assets.  

Responsibilities:

• Create, execute, and evaluate special events that engage stakeholders in meaningful action and dialogue in support of the organization. Direct all logistics, creative content, event structure and planning meetings, vendors, and technology needs. Ensure all special event sponsor benefits are fulfilled;
• Execute Humane Journeys trips to locations in the U.S. and globally, manage RSVPs and attendee data for assigned trips, and serve as main point of contact for assigned trips. Ensure the highest level of donor communication strategies are implemented per industry standard for major donor cultivation and stewardship. Co-manage collateral materials development as assigned;
•Strategically devise and implement all special event collateral and promotional items, in collaboration with internal creative teams such as Brand & Visuals and Video, including invitations, program books, signage, concept papers, etc. to maximize exposure and success of all special events.  Ensure consistency of event and donor trip elements, branding and style;
•Effectively communicate goals and strategic messaging to essential internal stakeholders partnering on special events;
•Support National Director, Special Events by creating outreach and presentation assets including but not limited to PowerPoints, event Leadership Committee outreach and presentation materials, event briefing documents, etc. as assigned;
•Manage vendor budgets and track expenses. Analyze event statistics to determine overall return on investment including but not limited to financials, demographics, media, and enhanced relationships. Develop contracts and legal waivers in partnership with Office of General Counsel for the gala and other special events;
•Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience required;
• A minimum of six (6) years of experience in event management or a related field required;
• Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills with demonstrated flexibility and the ability to manage multiple and often changing priorities and issues of varying complexity, while meeting time sensitive deadlines and deliverables;
• The ability to build/foster relationships by reinforcing trust and respect, and demonstrating high standards of tact, diplomacy, and discretion;
• Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes;
• Excellent strategic thinking and critical reasoning skills; creative and forward thinking;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook); strong ability to use PowerPoint to design and create high-quality loops and other on-screen elements for events;
• Photoshop skills preferred for event design mockups, layouts, etc.;
• Ability to work independently, as an effective team member, and with all levels of the organization;
•Willingness to travel and to occasionally work irregular hours, such as evenings and weekends;
•An interest in and commitment to animal welfare and protection is highly desired.
