YOUR OPPORTUNITY:

The Herff Jones Jewelry site is looking for a Planning Manager to join our operations team.  This position would oversee the strategic and tactical execution of the materials function for the Indianapolis site.

  

Here’s how you’ll impact the business:  The Planning Manager will review the strategic finished goods, semi-finished goods, and raw material position to meet customer delivery expectations and manage working capital position to meet corporate working capital goals.  The position will lead production control and Inventory management, while partnering with Distribution, Manufacturing Operations, and Supply Chain to meet customer demand, cost improvement objectives, and inventory management objectives.  Additionally, this position will work with commercial teams and customer service to support new products & accounts and factor in timelines to achieve readiness to serve the new opportunities. 

 

 w what You’ll Bring to the Table:

3+ years of related experience in addition to meeting the following requirements:

  • Support Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Cost improvements across the site
  • Establish and maintain stocking levels for finished goods to meet expected customer lead time
  • Develop and execute strategy for production loading and outsource requirements to achieve balanced scorecard for On Time Delivery, Working Capital, and Direct Labor optimization, this will include appropriate make/buy strategy for
  • Work closely with Supply Chain Manager to establish optimal on-hand quantities for raw and component inventories (seasonally), and working through both supplier lead times and expected customer lead time expectations
  • Inventory control practices enhanced to support accurate and timely system counts and avoid unknown stock-outs.  This position will have annual fiscal inventory support responsibilities.
  • Establish and maintain ERP primary owner of ERP set up, material master data, and compliance with ERP practices, material master data, and compliance with efficient cost, and capacity to serve our markets
  • This position is a key member of the Plant Leadership Team.  Modeling and Role Modeling strong core values and setting proper tone is expected.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • Establish and manage performance expectations of the inventory management and production control teams
  • Staff and develop existing teams to ensure proficiency in the materials function.  Proven success to effectively communicate (listening, writing and verbal) across all levels of an organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Previous success in a leading lean operations role including training and coaching front line associates.
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills with Microsoft Office and learning new systems/technology with understanding some work is processed manually
  • Demonstrated success in the ability to lead a mid-size manufacturing facility operation with seasonal production flow.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, conduct detailed staffing analysis, and implement new programs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Outstanding decision-making skills and ability to work well with numbers.
  • Significant experience in collecting and analyzing data.
  • Excellent leadership capabilities and communication skills.
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • A strong sense of urgency and desire to exceed customer expectations.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
  • Awareness and experience in implementing materials and ERP best practices
  • APICS certification (CPIM) desired or equivalent experience

 

 

Physical Activities:

Daily activity includes but is not limited to:

  • Reading, lifting, communicating, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting.
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Be able to occasionally lift/move up to 25 lbs.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
