Summary

The development manager works closely with the Director of Development to ensure the agency meets its philanthropic goals. Responsible for securing gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations by identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding assigned prospects. Manages a portfolio of 150+ prospects; works with the Annual Fund & Community Engagement manager to engage volunteers in fundraising activities. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  1. Communicate Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley’s vision, mission, and values to the public and its stakeholders.
  2. Develop and implement a written plan for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding potential individual, corporate, and foundation donors capable of giving $50,000 or more or $1,000 to $50,000 annually.
  3. Meet fundraising goals and Presidents’ Council annual gifts and produce all related reports by stated deadlines.
  4. Meet major gifts fundraising goals quarterly, including new, renewed, and upgraded Presidents’ Council members.
  5. Personally manage a portfolio of 150 to 200 prospects.
    o    Develop and implement written strategies based on capacity and readiness to give
    o    Make 15+ visits per month
    o    Manage how assigned prospects will be solicited for their annual fund gift
    o    Write useful contact reports after each visit
    o    Utilize CRMs to record and track donor interactions, including calls, visits, mailings, solicitations, etc.
    o    Qualify new prospects monthly
  6. Conduct and/or supervise prospect research.
  7. Organize and coordinate the activities of volunteers and committees/boards engaged in fundraising efforts, as appropriate, and provide necessary training to volunteers.
  8. Support the Director of Development’s major gift work with top prospects.
  9. Assist the Director of Development with strategy, budgeting, and long-range planning.
  10. Manage capital campaign responsibilities, as designated.
  11. Other duties as assigned


Supervisory Responsibilities 

•    Provides direct supervision to the Reception Supervisor assigned to the Community Services Building.
•    Performs supervisory responsibilities in alignment with organizational policies and applicable laws.
•    Key duties include recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding staff; providing training and professional development; planning, assigning, and overseeing daily work activities; conducting performance evaluations; administering recognition and disciplinary actions; and effectively addressing employee concerns and resolving workplace issues to maintain a productive and positive environment.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements 

o    Bachelor’s degree preferred
o    CFRE preferred

Experience Requirements

o    Minimum of 4 to 6 years fundraising experience with emphasis on working with individual donors
o    Database management experience, Raisers Edge, GiveSmart, Salesforce, Better Impact or similar software preferred
o    Expertise in Microsoft Office products

Must maintain the ability to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens.

3. Knowledge of agency gift guidelines and other laws and AFP standards and ethics related to fundraising
4. Proven track record as a major gift officer and manager
5. Ability to manage special projects and fundraising events
6. Excellent communications skills, emphasizing the ability to listen and hear others

14. Commitment to work toward and achieve CFRE designation when five years of continuous fundraising experience is obtained.
