As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will be part of a passionate team dedicated to providing compassionate care and meaningful support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a DSP, you’ll be more than a caregiver — you’ll be a mentor, coach, and advocate. Your support will help individuals master life skills, participate in their community, and build confidence through personalized activities and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a positive and empowering environment for individuals in the classroom and community
- Support individuals in activities of daily living, social skills development, and community engagement
- Teach, assist, and encourage individuals in areas such as hygiene, communication, safety, and personal growth
- Implement and track Individual Support Plans (ISP) and Behavior Support Plans (BSP)
- Assist with documentation, daily progress notes, and data collection
- Transport individuals safely to community activities or appointments
- Communicate effectively with staff, families, guardians, and external monitors
- Respond to behavioral challenges using approved intervention strategies
- Complete incident reports accurately and promptly
- Contribute to a collaborative, respectful, and dynamic team culture
What You Bring to the Team
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 6 months of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
- A valid Georgia Driver’s License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Basic computer skills and the ability to document electronically
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform frequent physical movements (walking, bending, squatting, etc.)
Preferred:
- Experience working with intellectually and developmentally disabled individuals in a community or educational setting
