ROLE SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant II assists in the period-end close and financial reporting process for assigned areas. This includes responsibility for journal entries, accounts receivable, account analysis, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Additional job duties include assisting with audits, report creation with third-party analytics firm and other ad-hoc projects as assigned. The ideal candidate has experience with period end close and reviewing profit and loss statements including variance analysis, an understanding of US GAAP, and has excellent organization and communication skills.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Effectively manage the period-end close process for assigned areas from journal entries to financial reporting
  • Prepare and process accounting entries for the period-end close including revenue, deferred revenue, franchisees, various accruals and allocations
  • Perform profit and loss reviews and variance analysis for assigned accounts/departments
  • Manage the accounts receivable process for franchise and other miscellaneous AR; including invoicing, payment application and reporting
  • Administer updates in Visual Lease to properly account for changes to 842 lease accounting schedules
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and proactively communicate insights, observations, and proposed solutions to management
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations
  • Provide support and training to junior staff members as needed
  • Complete ad-hoc requests and projects as needed

EDUCATION, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • 2-5 years of experience in Accounting/Finance field
  • 1-2 years of experience in a multi-unit business (restaurant, retail, etc.) preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Possess a strong knowledge of US GAAP accounting requirements
  • Impeccable attention to detail and ability to effectively conduct self-reviews of work to minimize error rate
  • Ability to manage high stress situations with professionalism and focus
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks under tight time constraints
  • Ability to drive an efficient, high-quality, accurate close process
  • Flexibility and desire to work in a fast-paced and evolving organization
  • Must be self-motivated, organized, and manage tight deadlines
  • High-degree of professionalism and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization from studio managers to C-level executives
  • Exceptional analytic and problem-solving skills, along with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel (including pivot tables and V-lookup), as well as proficiency in accounting software is required
  • Netsuite and Spreadsheet Server experience preferred

Must be able to remain in stationary position for 50% to 75% of the workday
