Systems Engineer
Summary:
Cosm is looking for an experienced systems engineer to join the Field Technologies team as a key member to help build the infrastructure for Cosm’s new entertainment venue and a global operations center. The ideal candidate would be responsible for designing, deploying, administering, and maintaining the venue’s and ops center’s system architecture. Cosm is looking for a team member experienced with automation, VMware, Windows Server/11, AWS, storage, and on-prem infrastructure. Familiarity with systems related to the operation of an entertainment venue including M&E, F&B and Ticketing is a major plus.
Responsibilities:
- Engineer and coordinate all services for new site buildout, providing expertise in the domain, alerting, monitoring, automation and storage systems.
- Collaborate with leadership to design and implement On-Premise solutions, with a focus on VMware, Windows Server (including AD, DNS, DHCP), and Windows 10/11/Server management.
- Design, buiild and maintain automation infrastructure utilizing Powershell, Ansible (AWX), Python, and other tools to streamline operational procedures inline with a “Infrastructure as Code” methodology.
- Work with various teams using an “Automation First” mindset to deploy, configure and manage venue infrastructure including VM clusters, storage clusters, and bare metal servers.
- Collaborate with Corporate IT on management of Corporate and Venue devices through Intune, Jamf, Esper and other MDMs.
- Deploy, configure, and manage servers and applications related to our F&B Point of Sale, Ticketing, and Entertainment Technologies.
- Develop and implement a regular systems maintenance, patching, and remediation efforts, standing up environments on their own.
- Work with engineering peers on developing backup, and high availability solution for disaster recovery for our infrastructure, products, and services.
- Act as part of the Operations Center team as Tier 2 and 3 support, ensuring optimal performance of the overall infrastructure for all venues.
- Train Tier 1 support teams in troubleshooting procedures.
- Participate in efforts to enhance monitoring, logging, and signaling capabilities, leveraging configuration management, images, and templates across Windows and Linux hosts.
- Provide quality documentation and training to other system admins and IT specialists, sharing best practices and strategic insights.
- Research emerging methodologies and technologies, fostering innovation to constantly improve the efficiency of current systems.
- Build and support Cloud and SaaS environments, with an understanding of AWS and managing MDM platforms.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of experience in IT
- 5+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer, or relevant experience.
- 5+ years of VMware administration, backup, and maintenance (vCenter, vSphere, vMotion, etc).
- 5+ years of Microsoft Systems administration in an enterprise-level environment (AD, DNS, DHCP, etc), with Microsoft Certified: Server Administration, AD, etc.
- 2+ years of experience with writing scripts and IT process automation – PowerShell, Python, Ansible, etc.
- 2+ years of experience with identity management infrastructure/architecture with multi-factor authentication (Okta) with an understanding of standard authentication protocols such as LDAP, Active Directory, SAML, and OAuth.
- Networking: L2/L3, DNS, DHCP, NAT, ACL, Filtering, Inspection, 1/10/40/100 Gigabit Ethernet (Arista experience preferred)
- Experience with Enterprise grade storage (ie Vast, Dell Powerscale, Qumulo, etc), Snapshots, Tiering, Quota Management, SMB, NFS
- Virtualization: Hyper-converged Infrastructure, High Availability, Resource Scheduling, Fault Tolerance (VMware ESX experience preferred).
- Experience with automation/configuration management software (Ansible, Chef, etc..).
- Experience with monitoring and alerting systems including, LogicMonitor, Grafana, Xmatters, etc.
- Microsoft certifications (such as Server Administration, AD, etc.) are valued but not a requirement.
- Knowledge of ITIL best practices.
- Experience with ServiceNow ticketing system.
- Experience with GitOps.
- Familiarity with Linux/BASH.
- Familiarity with enterprise POS and ticketing hardware and system is a plus.
- Familiarity with media and entertainment technologies and workflow is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud architectures, and platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS in a multi-region deployment is a plus.
- Ability to quickly grasp technical issues and offer solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Work Environment:
- Available for overtime and weekends as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility required.
- Must be able to work during a live production, with loud noise levels, and busy environments (non-office environment)
- Ability to maneuver around an entertainment venue and walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill tasks. Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment
- Comfortable lifting heavy objects up to 30 lbs
The annualized base salary range for this position in California is $140,000 to $150,000. The base salary offered will factor in internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and relevant experience, among other factors.
