Cosm is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager for Venue Operations to help drive financial excellence across our flagship venues—including the dynamic Hollywood Park located in Inglewood, CA and Grandscape located in The Colony, TX. Reporting directly to Cosm’s Controller, you’ll lead accounting operations, manage a Senior Accountant that is located in The Colony, TX, and collaborate closely with senior leaders as we scale our rapidly growing business.
This role is tailor-made for someone with a strong accounting background in multi-unit food & beverage or hospitality environments, who understands the rhythm of high-volume operations and the financial complexity that comes with it. Our venues operate 365 days a year, hosting multiple events daily, and offering full-service dining and bar experiences—so you’ll be right at home in our fast-paced, high-energy setting.
If you bring multi-site F&B accounting experience, a knack for systems and process improvement, and a passion for the world of sports, media, and/or entertainment, you’ll find yourself at the intersection of Accounting and innovation at Cosm.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting processes related to Event and Food & Beverage (F&B) sales, including revenue recognition and cost tracking across multiple high-volume venues.
- Act as a strategic partner to Hollywood Park’s General Manager. Review monthly operating expenses, analyze financial performance, and communicate key insights to Cosm’s FP&A team.
- Take ownership of ad hoc financial projects, cross-functional analyses, and operational reporting to support business growth and decision-making.
- Manage accounts payable operations, including invoice flow through Bill.com, alcohol vendor payments via Fintech, and EDI vendor systems to ensure accurate and timely disbursements.
- Lead the monthly close process for venue operations—owning timely, accurate reporting of all F&B and event-related revenue, COGS, and operating costs.
- Track and validate all event-related expenses, including labor allocations and variable event costs, ensuring compliance with budgets and proper financial treatment.
- Own inventory accounting processes in coordination with operations—reconcile physical counts with system data and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Ensure system integrity between the inventory management platform and Cosm’s ERP (Sage Intacct), maintaining accurate cost flows and item valuations.
- Conduct routine audits of F&B inventory to verify correct financial representation and prevent loss or misstatement.
- Prepare and review journal entries for the General Ledger and maintain accurate, GAAP-compliant financial records.
- Review and manage sales tax filings across multiple jurisdictions, ensure timely payments, and assist with sales tax audit documentation as needed.
- Reconcile daily cash and credit card activity, investigating discrepancies and ensuring integrity in recorded POS transactions.
- Manage accounts receivable and deferred revenue related to special events, private bookings, and group sales.
- Support internal and external financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and industry best practices.
- Collaborate on the development and enhancement of internal financial controls and process improvements for scalability and risk mitigation.
- Stay current on hospitality-specific regulations and accounting policies, ensuring full compliance across all financial activities.
- Support annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting in collaboration with external partners and Cosm’s corporate finance team.
Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- 5–7+ years of accounting experience in multi-unit restaurant groups, hospitality, or food & beverage-focused entertainment venues required
- Deep familiarity with Food & Beverage cost structures, including COGS, labor tracking, inventory turnover, and POS-to-ERP reconciliations
- Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and hospitality-specific accounting nuances, especially around revenue recognition and event-based operations
- Hands-on experience with inventory management platforms (e.g., Crunchtime, MarketMan, BevSpot, etc.) and the ability to reconcile F&B purchases, consumption, waste, and variances accurately
- Experience with Sage Intacct or similar cloud-based ERP systems, and comfortable integrating data from multiple systems (POS, inventory, AP, etc.)
- Skilled at preparing and analyzing P&Ls for food & beverage departments, identifying margin improvement opportunities, and collaborating with operations teams to drive results
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, conditional formulas, dynamic reports)
- Excellent communication skills—you know how to translate financial insights into operational terms for GMs, chefs, and venue managers
- Demonstrated ability to lead month-end closes, manage audits, and maintain clean, well-documented financial records in 365-day, high-traffic environments with a heavy focus on Food and Beverage
- Strong problem-solving mindset, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and create structure in evolving F&B businesses
- A collaborative spirit, with the professionalism and integrity to represent finance in cross-functional teams
