Job Overview:
The Assembler I will perform duties related to the disassembly, positioning, reassembly, testing and painting of moderate to highly complex equipment utilizing a combination of manual, pneumatic and hydraulic tools for fitting, adjusting and securing maneuvers. Clean inspect and repair Natural gas engine and compressor components in a shop environment, must be able to adhere to all Environmental, Health and Safety rules and regulations, be capable of reading detailed prints, use and read micrometers, dial calipers and dial indicators. Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
In the role of the Assembler I, you will:
- Perform assembly & finishing operations of mechanical parts meeting all product specifications, engineering drawings, work instructions and quality standards
- Be responsible for hand grinding of mechanical parts meeting all product specifications, work instructions and quality standards
- Prepare parts for painting and preservation and perform painting operations to standard
- Perform functional tests as required
- Maintain a neat and organized work area
- Be an active participant in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Adhere to all policies and procedures
- Bring any discrepancies, production issues, and/or safety concerns to the attention of immediate supervisor or floor manager
- Be responsible for any other job duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
- Conduct all business-related tasks according to Cooper Machinery Services policies

- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment
- Have strong mechanical aptitude with an Oil & Gas background as well as the ability to use a wide range of mechanical tools and test equipment
- Complete Risk Assessments prior to performing all operations and light to heavy weight material movements by means of cranes and lift trucks
- Complete all required business training and process documentation, as required
- Be responsible for ensuring facility equipment and tooling is accounted for, operating efficiently, and safely
- Identify, report, and mitigate problems or hazardous conditions that occur during equipment disassembly, assembly and test set-up
- Possess excellent Communication, Teamwork, and Collaborative Skills with team members and basic understanding of working to production schedules / plans
- Ensure departmental compliance with all applicable quality, health, safety and environmental regulations
- Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on mechanical tooling & equipment
- Complete required documentation with accurate information for routers, documents and inspection reports
- Perform other related duties as assigned or indicated by management
Qualifications/Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school or institution
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing or mechanical test and assembly / disassembly or heavy equipment repairs and maintenance
Eligibility Requirements
- Ability and willingness to perform work in a production environment.
- Ability and willingness to perform sedentary work with frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending, and other physical activities
- Ability and willingness to be exposed to some noise, dust, and liquids usually present within production environment
- Ability and willingness to occasionally work with a computer monitor, keyboard and mouse
- Ability and willingness to use safety glasses, safety shoes and/or ear plugs
- Ability and willingness to work multiple shifts, as required
Desired Charachteristics
- Hand grinding experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, work and safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to work with large parts weighing in excess of 5,000 lbs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form, usually in basic English
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Quality Management; look for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
- Planning / Organizing; prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time effectively
- Safety and Security; actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly
- Ability to report to work daily and work overtime as required by business need and production volumes
- Work overtime, weekends and holidays as required
- Work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities
- Be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required
- Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Handle heavy parts and moving parts
- Subjected to the following: awkward positions, exposure to eye injuries, noise, dust, exposure to high noise levels for long periods of time, as required
- Interpret drawings, prints, drawings and engineering specifications to perform moderately complex, repetitive disassembly and reassembly tasks of all pressure control equipment
- Possess or obtain forklift operator license and certification to operate overhead cranes
- Wear PPE or Personal Protective Equipment - Hearing and eye protection (safety equipment) must be used
- Operate pneumatic and hydraulic torque tools
- Comply with all applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental regulations and maintain good housekeeping in assigned work areas
- Possess a valid driver’s license
