What you will do:
We are looking for a Utilization Intake Coordinator who can help shape our vision and support our mission. Here is what the position will look like.
- Receives all incoming requests (via phone, fax or authorization portal) from providers requesting specialty referral or prior authorization for services.
- Responsible for the initial processing of requests for submission to the appropriate clinical reviewer.
- Reviews completeness of information, collects and transfers non-clinical data, and obtains structured clinical data.
- Works in a phone queue to receive inquiries from providers and members and directs those inquiries to the appropriate licensed clinical or leadership staff.
- Appropriately and consistently apply criteria, scripted guidelines and turnaround times for all services requested.
- Provides notification to requesting provider of the outcome of their requests.
- Assures appropriate and complete data entry of all requests per guidelines.
- Works closely with other teams within the Utilization Management department to ensure that departmental goals are met.
- Participates in the Quality Improvement process.
- Responsible for appropriate and consistent interpretation and adherence to all departmental procedures and guidelines.
- Engages in ongoing, real time, and comprehensive communications of their current efforts, issues, progress, and barriers with their manager.
What you will bring:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor’s degree in behavioral health or nursing field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of two years of experience working with medical records or clinical documentation in a medical office, hospital, or behavioral health treatment setting, with demonstrated knowledge of medical and/or behavioral health terminology, treatment types, diagnosis codes (e.g., ICD-10), and procedure/service codes (e.g., CPT/HCPCS). Experience working as behavioral health technician, medical assistant, or LPN preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding experience required. Demonstrates support for the company’s mission, vision and values. Position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work effectively with Colorado Access staff, members, physician office staff and other providers. Basic computer knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required. May be required to manage multiple priorities and projects with tight deadlines.
Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver's license and proof of current auto insurance will be required for any position requiring driving.

Pay, Perks and Benefits at Colorado Access:
The compensation for this position is $56,820.00 - $68,180.00 annually and is a non-exempt (hourly) position. Colorado Access has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what Colorado Access may pay for the position at the time of posting. Colorado Access may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.

Where you will work:
This position will be a hybrid model work environment, a blend of ‘In-Office’ and ‘Remote.’
