Concordia Visiting Nurses is looking to add a Medical Coder to our Middlesex team.

 

The Medical Coder is a clinical support paraprofessional that reviews incoming home care referral data and information from the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), determines appropriate codes for acute and historic diagnoses as well as procedures, and enters the codes into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) using home care coding guidelines.

Qualifications for the Medical Coder position: 

  • Paraprofessional with ICD-9/ICD10 education and/or coding experience
  • Able to demonstrate a knowledge base of coding guidelines.
  • Skilled in use of the computer, the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), as well as Microsoft Word and Excel and any technology utilized to facilitate patient documentation and agency communication.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and organize daily work load
  • Prior experience in scheduling and/or data entry preferred
  • High School education required/coding education required

 

Duties and Responsibilities for the Medical Coder Position:

  • Runs appropriate Electronic Medical Record (EMR) reports to identify all referrals needing coding completion.
  • Codes all referrals following Home care coding guidelines.
  • Data enters appropriate codes for each referral into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Documents appropriate Case Communication notes in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for Start of Care (SOC), Resumption of Care (ROC) referrals, Recerts and Other follow up OASIS.
  • Assist in statistical data gathering
