Summary 

The CCBHC Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) is responsible forproviding services to clients dealing with addiction and/or other behavioral health conditionsServices are also offered to family members of loved onesstruggling with these conditionsThe CASAC helps clients develop the skills and confidence to find lasting recovery and lead healthy, fulfilling lives.  

Essential Functions: 

  • Provide clinical counseling services to clients including initial assessment and discharge planning in accordance with program procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Create treatment plans based on completing comprehensive assessments and listening to client needs and desires, providing services to address identified treatment plan goals and objectives to assist clients in meeting identified challenges.
  • Prepare and maintain required records to specify delivery of services and interventions, as well as client progression in relation to treatment goals and objectives.
  • Maintain a caseload of active clients.
  • Meet regularly with other professionals and team members, including medical, vocational, social workers, family, etc. to ensure client compliance with services.
  • Attend and participate in case review/conference meetings.
  • Provide referral and follow up services including alternative programs such as detoxification units and Rehabilitation Programs.
  • Maintain documentation of client case record according to program contracts, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Assist clients with budget/financial management activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • None 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency.
  • 2 years’ experience.
  • Bilingual in one or more of the following: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali and others, may be required depending on client needs.
  • Certificate from the State of New York as a CASAC 

Qualifications Preferred: 

  • Associate/Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in working in an OASAS setting.
  • Skilled in Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
  • Experience with Integrated Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders.
  • Knowledge of SBIRT.
  • Understanding of Medicated Assisted Treatment.
  • Experience Coordinating Care with Community Providers.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and type quickly; basic computer knowledge.

  • Maintain established departmental policies and procedures including maintain strict confidentiality and adherence to all HIPAA guidelines at all times.
  • Position may require evenings and Saturday hours. The work schedule is subjected to be changed according to the clinic operation needs and is determined based on employee’s ability to meet job requirements and expectations.
