The Property Field Claim Specialist position is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated, and experienced individual. We are seeking a claims professional who is experienced in adjusting claims for residential and commercial risks and up for the challenge of assisting our insureds during catastrophes. Ultimately, you will be critical in helping us achieve our vision of becoming the most intelligent claims organization in the world.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Field-based role: Travel via assigned company vehicle within a defined territory to manage, meet, and handle all aspects of an assigned volume of mixed severity and complexity personal and commercial lines first-party property claims throughout the life of the claim in a field-based, remote environment
- Assist other claims lines of business in assessing and investigating third-party property damage claims
- Catastrophe duty, handling first-party property claims requiring travel outside of your defined territory for up to 21 days
- Provide internal and external proactive hospitality service by setting expectations, building rapport, and responding to requests in a timely manner
- Conduct claims investigations to analyze coverage and assess damages
- Demonstrate effective and efficient file management
- Manage all components of assigned volume of property claims throughout the life of the claim, which includes coverage analysis, investigation, setting reserves, damage evaluation, resolution, and ongoing communication with all stakeholders
- Handle occasional overflow of personal and commercial lines first-party property claims in a virtual desk environment
- Make decisions within delegated authority to promptly and accurately set and adjust loss reserves and issue payments
- Manage dispute resolution activity, including litigation and alternative dispute resolution methods including appraisal
- Complete advanced property training as needed and participate in special assignments as requested
- Participate in claims-sponsored workshops, training sessions, claim roundtables, and resolution strategy sessions
- Develop positive value-add relationships with agency partners and collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Underwriting, Loss Control, Marketing, Subrogation, and SIU
- Detect and mitigate fraud when investigating claims through early detection of indicators that warrant a referral to SIU
- Comply with state regulatory/statutory requirements, corporate privacy, and other claim policy requirements
- Assist team development with subject matter expertise in technical learning objectives, onboarding, and assisting your supervisor, when needed
- Understand and utilize various resources, including technology and tools to resolve claims
What You’ll Bring
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required state department of insurance adjusting licenses
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and two years of property claims experience OR four years property claims experience
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license within residing state
- Ability to move and carry a ladder (up to 50 lbs.)
- Ability to climb a ladder to access one-story lower slope roofs
Preferred
- Prior field adjusting and/or construction experience
- Extensive knowledge of Verisk (Xactimate and Xactanalysis) estimating platform
