Facilities Specialist (Temporary)
Position Summary:
Under limited supervision, perform a mix of routine and specialized/more complex tasks of a skilled nature necessary for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, repair, and improvement of facilities and mechanical equipment to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
Please note: This is a temporary role (6 months)
Essential Job Duties:
- Maintain clean, orderly work areas and tools to ensure a safe working environment throughout assigned facility, adhering to all applicable workplace and/or laboratory health and safety rules.
- Inspect assigned facility daily, keeping detailed inspection records.
- Perform minor and complex maintenance tasks on equipment and on-site appliances at assigned facility such as cleaning, changing filters, taking meter readings, measuring fluid levels, inspecting for damage.
- Report repair requests. Perform minor and complex repairs which may include carpentry, painting, plumbing and/or electrical repairs.
- Keep detailed records of all incidents within assigned facility, including pre-incident or accident reports.
- Maintain grounds as needed. Tasks may include, cutting grass, trimming hedges and trees, weeding and other groundskeeping duties.
- Preform cleaning and garbage removal tasks as instructed.
- Maintain facility supplies inventory and generate order requests for supplies as needed and keep record of all supplies purchased.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diplomas or General Education Degree (GED)
- 5+ years of general experience in trades and maintenance
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
- Trade license or other vocational training
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems
- Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers and follow directions
- Ability to work autonomously on weekends, holidays, and as needed
- Self-starter with good time management skills and ability to handle feedback
- Basic skills necessary to operate a computer for general day-to-day work and communications.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead; be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time; be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks; climb a ladder; and be able to frequently lift 50 pounds of weight throughout the assigned workday. Routinely lifts and /or carries objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
