The Senior Prospect Researcher is responsible for high-quality biographical and financial research on individual, foundation, and corporate prospects that is synthesized into clear writing and presentations and proper documentation in the database of record and digital files.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Preferred candidates will have 3 years of prospect research experience.
  • Completed training through the American Prospect Research Association is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Research prowess leveraging public records, proprietary systems, published materials and other resources.
  • Must have excellent written, verbal communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail required.
  • Maturity of judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working in Raiser’s Edge fundraising software is a plus.
  • Experience working in a fastpaced, resultsoriented environment with shifting priorities.
  • Present a collegial, collaborative, and customer-service oriented demeanor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is primarily sedentary in nature; no special demands are required.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Works in tandem with Assistant Director, Prospect Development to coordinate, organize, track, report and analyze the Moves Management system for frontline fundraiser portfolios.
  • Produce and disseminate strategic research, both reactive and proactive, to identify individual donors, foundation, and corporations based on philanthropic interest, giving capacity, engagement, and connections to the Carnegie Museums.
  • Write research profiles, including new board bios, event bios, and prospect profiles that are carefully proofread and edited for accuracy, completeness, and clarity.
  • Develop, implement and lead strategies for proactive wealth screening, analyses, and verification as a means to develop portfolio-based work on the Development team. Will manage the strategy for 15+ unique portfolios used by frontline fundraisers.
  • Analyze, interpret, and summarize financial disclosure documents (e.g., 990s) to determine gift/grant capacity.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping in our CRM database and filing systems.
  • Manage system, as well as tracking and reporting out on the Museums’ donors and prospects, while staying attuned to museum-based programs, projects, exhibits, and related opportunities.
  • Continuously seek and participate in prospect research professional development opportunities.
  • Performs special projects and support as needed to meet the goals of the department.
The following PA Act 153 clearances, or proof of application of clearances, are required beginning employment and as a condition of continued employment: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check Obtaining the required clearances is completed as part of the new hire process.
