We are currently looking for a Manager- Government Affairs and Public Outreach for our Louisville, KY office.  

 

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 

Boardwalk is looking for a Manager of Government Affairs and Public Outreach who will be responsible for the responsibilities outlined below.  This role will have both traditional government affairs roles and project-level outreach roles. This position will be responsible for taking Boardwalk’s message to state elected officials, state agencies and regulators, county and other elected officials, and landowners.

 

Government Affairs

  • Ensure consistent messaging across all Boardwalk Pipelines’ Project-level communications
  • Develop and manage comprehensive Government Affairs strategies for KY, OH, IN, IL and TN
  • Develop and implement state and local strategies for Project development. 
  • Advocate for company Projects to state officials including elected officials, state agencies and regulators, county and other elected officials, and landowners.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on legislative and regulatory developments that impact interstate pipeline projects development and ongoing operations.
  • Communicate to Senior Management current legislative and regulatory issues affecting pipeline operations, including pipeline permitting, environmental compliance, infrastructure development, and energy policy.
  • Advocate company positions on policy matters related to pipeline safety, energy infrastructure, emissions regulations, and permitting processes to state elected officials as well as state agencies and regulators, county and other elected officials, and landowners.

 

Projects Outreach

  • Manage, direct, and coordinate outreach efforts with outside Public Relations firms assigned to the Project
    • Strategy and message
    • Develop one-pagers and newsletters
    • Newspaper notices
    • Local communications
  • Coordinate required outreach prior to initial landowner contacts and survey permission
  • Support “Affected Landowner Line List” reviews with Land Team and work with outside PR Firms to identify critical or activist landowners
  • Manage landowner communications for FERC 7c and Prior Notice Filings, including website interactions
  • Develop and manage open house strategy
    • Logistics
    • Messages
    • Notifications
    • Story Boards
  • Support Land efforts concerning ‘critical’ landowner outreach efforts
    • Coordinate communications
    • Support the “single point of contact”, as required

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, collaboration on policy development with the ability to work with key external government stakeholders on energy issues
  • Strong understanding of energy and environmental policy issues
  • Familiarity with federal legislative and regulatory processes
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications
  • Self-starter with the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy applying effective prioritization, analytical problem solving and planning skills
  • Proven track record of building relationships with a diverse range of collaborators. 
  • Ability to travel frequently

 

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • 5+ years of experience working with Congress, state legislature, federal agencies, and/or energy related associations

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
