We are currently looking for an Employee Safety Supervisor to work at any of our Boardwalk locations.     

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 

The Employee Safety Supervisor performs the job duties of a Regional Safety Leader in addition to their supervisory role. This position oversees and promotes a safe work environment across the Boardwalk system. This role ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 1910 and 1926 regulations, provides safety training, conducts field observations, and serves as a resource for field personnel. The position involves providing administrative and technical support, conducting incident analysis, and collaborating with leadership to enhance safety programs and promote a proactive safety culture. Supervises Regional Safety Leaders under the direction of the Director of Employee Safety and Physical Security. Performs any additional duties assigned by the Director of ES&PS. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

OSHA Compliance & Safety Leadership

  • Ensure field personnel adhere to OSHA 1910 and 1926 regulations.
  • Provide OSHA safety training and offer compliance expertise as a resource for field teams.
  • Conduct regular safety observations and job plan reviews to verify safe working conditions and compliance with safety programs.
  • Analyze incident reports to identify safety gaps and develop corrective actions.
  • Ownership of the industrial hygiene programs.

Program Development & Implementation

  • Develop and implement safety programs to enhance the company’s compliance and reduce incidents.
  • Collaborate with field supervision to address and correct non-compliance issues.
  • Assist in creating and delivering safety training materials, presentations, and toolbox talks.
  • Promote and instill a cooperative and caring attitude with internal customers to foster a proactive safety culture.
  • Oversight of the S.H.A.P.E. program.

Project Safety Oversight

  • Perform occupational safety work on assigned projects, ensuring adherence to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Take ownership of overall project safety success, exercising substantial latitude for unreviewed decisions.
  • Function in a lead capacity, supervising the work of other personnel on assigned projects as needed.
  • Plan and conduct work requiring independent evaluation and innovative problem-solving.

Incident Investigation & Reporting

  • Participate in incident investigations to identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and track to closure.
  • Collaborate with management to implement improvements based on the findings of investigations.
  • Assemble incident investigation teams and ensure the investigation scope is maintained.  

Continuous Improvement & Development

  • Stay current on safety regulations and best practices through ongoing self-education, training, and industry conferences.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety processes and recommend enhancements.

Direct Supervision

  • Supervise the Regional Safety Leaders.
  • Ensures departmental goals are achieved.
  • Responsible for annual performance reviews.
  • Collaborates with the Director of ES&PS to ensure budgetary constraints are met.
  • Serves as the Delegation of Authority in the absence of the Director of ES&PS.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Knowledgeable of OSHA 1910 and 1926 regulations
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent leadership and people skills
  • Excellent presentation development and delivery skills
  • Proactive attitude and approach to safety
  • Ability to self-direct and motivate
  • 5-10 years in occupational health and safety

 

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • 10-15 years of experience in the occupational safety and health field
  • 3-7 years of experience in a supervisory role

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

 

  • High school diploma
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

 

  • GSP, ASP, CSP or IH certification(s)
