Position Overview:
As the Safety Technician, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining an effective pest management program within the grocery distribution center. This position ensures compliance with all safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards by inspecting facilities, identifying pest-related issues, applying control measures, and maintaining detailed service records. The technician plays a critical role in protecting food safety, preserving inventory, and supporting overall facility cleanliness
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections of the distribution center including storage areas, docks, and perimeters to detect signs of pest activity.
- Identify pest infestations, determine the appropriate treatment methods, and apply pesticides or other control measures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Set up, monitor, and maintain traps and bait stations, ensuring proper placement and documentation.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all inspections, treatments, and recommendations to meet regulatory and customer audit standards.
- Collaborate with facility maintenance and sanitation teams to identify potential pest entry points and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure all pest control equipment and chemicals are stored, handled, and used safely and in compliance with company policies.
- Respond to urgent pest-related concerns and provide corrective action in a timely manner.
- Participate in audits and inspections conducted by third parties, customers, or regulatory agencies.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and changes to pest control regulations
- Performing other duties as assigned by leadership
Schedule:
- Monday - Friday
- 9:00am - 5:30pm
Environment:
- Varying temperatures based on indoor and outdoor environments
Experience:
- Preferred: One (1) – Three (3) years of pest control within a food or warehouse distribution environment
- Preferred: Knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) principles and food safety standards (SQF etc)
- Preferred: Experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and training sessions
- Preferred: Proficiency in English (written and verbal) to effectively communicate with associates and leadership
Skills:
- Safety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies to all associates; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
- Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 75lbs.; the ability to operate required facility equipment; Ability to stand, walk and sit throughout your day; Walking on a variety of flooring such as carpet, concrete, tile etc; working in confined spaces or elevated areas
- Strong communication Skills: Ability to provide & receive constructive feedback; communication of expectations and directions clearly

- Project Management: Results driven regarding implemented KPI’s/Metrics; willingness to participate in continuous improvement projects; managing multiple deadline-based projects
