Benchmark Senior Living has an opportunity for a Collections Analyst. The Analyst will report to the Collection Manager, with a strong working relationship with the entire Corporate Accounting team as well as the Senior Management team. The Collection Analyst will establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with key community associates such as the Director of Business Administration and Executive Director, as well as residents, family members and outside vendors. The Collection Analyst’s overall objective is to reduce past due receivable balances with a focus on Private Pay receivables greater than 31 days past due in accordance with written policy and procedure through investigation and direct verbal and written communications with Benchmark’s residents and resident responsible parties.

 

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining timely reimbursement of private pay receivables using established guidelines. Comply, enhance, implement and monitor corporate collection policies and procedures giving emphasis on proactive AR strategies and positive collection results.
  • Establish and maintain positive professional relationships with outside vendors IE: 3rd party collection agencies, litigation attorneys and credit reporting agencies utilizing their services to maximize positive corporate financial return while reducing potential bad debt write offs.
  • Review monthly remittance reports for accuracy. Communicates and corresponds with appropriate payers, resident responsible parties, family members and communities, to correct or modify payments received as it pertains to reconciling private pay.
  • Research, communicate, and respond to inquiries as it pertains to private pay / subsidy financial responsibility from residents, resident responsible parties, family members.
  • Be available to all community and corporate associates in relation to collection related matters, giving support and guidance where needed.
  • The Collection Analyst will maintain a personal portfolio of bad debt accounts as assigned wherein s/he is responsible for the monitory collection thereof in accordance with written corporate collection policy and procedure.
  • The Collection Analyst will maintain a monthly reporting mechanism for tracking and monitoring collection activity on his/her assigned portfolio.          
  • The Collection Analyst will be available to community associates to assist in AR related matters either remotely or on-site at specific or assigned communities as directed.
  • The Collection Analyst will be expected to have the ability to and be available for at a minimum 5% of travel.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification:

  • High School graduate or equivalent certification; Associate degree desirable
  • 5 years progressive AR, Accounting or direct consumer collections experience
  • Working knowledge of Medicaid and Long-Term Care billing and reimbursement
  • Comprehensive understanding and knowledge in State and Federal collection rules and regulations IE: Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, (FDCPA) and Fair Credit Reporting Act, (FCRA).
  • Demonstrate proficiency in:
    • Microsoft Office
    • Outlook
    • Internet
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, written and oral.
  • Ability to speak and understand complex sentences, to read, write and understand complex sentences, to take, transfer, and analyze information, to interact with others to accomplish assigned duties.
  • Ability to comprehend and establish working knowledge in all accounting functions with regard to cash applications, general ledger entries, account adjustments and accounting reconciliations.
  • Ability to work and function with a high degree of autonomy.
