Position:                  Electronics Engineer II (73)

Duties:                     Carry out engineering analysis, design and execution of projects and systems. Review and recommend repair and maintenance needs. Assist in preparing costs and time analyses of projects. Make recommendations for procedures, equipment purchases, and other improvements. Make recommendations for and coordinate design, procurement, manufacturing, testing, and initial operation. Use computer aided design software and test equipment to design electronic equipment, components, systems, or structures for radio telescopes and related systems. Modify existing software and hardware to add new features and improvements, or correct original design problems. Assist other engineering and technical personnel in fabrication and test of equipment, and recommend methods, procedures, and conditions for testing. Ensure manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and requirements. Work with programmers and scientists to identify and solve problems. Ensure compliance with institutional and government safety policies and procedures in own work area.

Requirements:     Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent in electrical or electronics engineering or related field plus one year of experience. Experience must include: Python language, scripting, electronics trouble-shooting techniques, embedded software and firmware programming, electronic testing, Basic RF circuitry, and documentation of new product development process (including software test procedures from software functional specifications). Skill set does not need to be maintained over the full term of required experience.
