Salary: $55,000-$65,000

To meet this need, we are thrilled to expand our team with a full-time Jewish Environmental Educator who will help bring these values to life! 

Job Summary: 

Adamah NY seeks an outstanding Jewish environmental educator to join its growing team and rapidly growing impact. We want to find a passionate, experienced Jewish environmental educator who shares our values who loves and who loves engaging kids, teens, young adults, parents, and community members in nature connection, sustainable practices Jewish wisdom, community building, song, hope, love, and joy.  

Jewish Environmental Education (80%)  

Develop, coordinate, and facilitate impactful Jewish environmental education and/or community engagement programs in alignment with Adamah NY’s strategic priorities. This includes:  

  • Creating and leading Adamah programs in parks, gardens, indoors, and in urban spaces across New York. 
  • Developing and facilitating Jewish environmental education training experiences at workshops, conferences, summer camps, and other spaces for partner organizations.   
  • Cultivating relationships with partner organizations, local communities, and key stakeholders to expand and sustain programming. 
  • Revenue Generation:Together with colleagues, identify opportunities for impactful and revenue-generating Jewish environmental education programming in the region, including trainings, consulting and curriculum development contracts with partner organizations. 
  • Developing and coordinating Jewish holiday communal programs. 
  • Working closely and collaboratively with the Adamah NY Director and other staff to develop a holistic strategy and approach to NY Jewish institutions. 
  • Developing opportunities to collaborate with other nonprofits in NY to maximize Adamah NY’s impact.  

This role includes managing the administrative aspects of the projects and programs that implemented by the person in this role, including:  

  • Communication with stakeholders - Responding to inquiries, emails, and requests in a timely and professional manner. Keeping track of relationships and outreach through SalesForce.  
  • Manage program coordination process: including sales and payment, group leader communications, scheduling, food and supplies, and evaluation 
  • Managing invoicing, payments, and financial tracking using Concur system, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. 
  • Support marketing of programs, including collaboration with MarCom team, gathering footage and photos, and supporting social media activity. 
  • Conducting timely program evaluations to assess success and areas for improvement.  
  • Maintaining accurate data records in Salesforce and other relevant systems. 

Administration and Hub’s Support (20%)  

The Jewish Environmental Educator will also support additional administrative and programmatic aspects of Adamah NY Hub’s operations, programming and marketing. This includes staffing the Hub’s programs and events as well as providing support in all areas of the organization, as needed, and as time permits. 

Required or helpful prior skills and experience include: 

  • Experience as a Jewish environmental educator in a North American JOFEE organization, or as a Jewish educator or environmental educator.  
  • Experience developing curricula and lesson plans.  
  • Demonstrated commitment to environmental stewardship through professional experiences and personal practice and actions.  
  • Demonstrated experience working on collaborative teams and working independently to move time sensitive and variable tasks forward.  
  • Experience working within Jewish community or environmental organizations.  
  • Strong personal organizational systems to effectively track and manage multiple projects. 
  • Compelling written and oral communication skills – the ability to tell the story of our work through email communications, newsletters, program facilitation, public speaking, and social media coordination.   
  • Strong administration and Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft SharePoint, and Salesforce experience, ideal. 

General: 

  • Attend and contribute to regular Adamah NY team meetings, monthly all-staff meetings, and quarterly divisional meetings. 
  • While this role will focus on Jewish environmental education, other responsibilities may be delegated and expanded as needed to support our interdisciplinary and collaborative team.  
  • Must possess a solid work ethic with strong organizational and time-management skills, excellent attention to detail, professional verbal, and written communication skills. 
  • Other tasks/duties as assigned. 

 
Working Conditions: 

This is an exempt position with standard working hours from Monday to Friday, with occasional travel and weekend work required. The role is designed to be in-person or hybrid, with a minimum of 1-2 days per week in the NY office. Candidates must be based in the metro New York area and able to commute to and from NYC. Adamah NY catchment area comprises of 8 counties: NYC 5 boroughs, Westchester, and Long Island (Suffolk and Nassau). Candidates are expected to travel as needed to all 8 counties.  

There is flexibility in the workweek, with the potential for a 4- or 5-day schedule.

90 Day Check In: Ninety days from the date of employment date, there will be a check in between you and your supervisor. Annually thereafter.  

Competitive Benefits and Generous Time Off: The equivalent of 14-18 Federal and Jewish holidays, depending on where they fall each year, and an additional 15 personal vacation days per year, and 9 sick days.
