Intramural Sports Official

Pay Rate:

$16.50 per hour

Hours:

Up to 20 hours per week

Job Summary:

Intramural staff will be responsible for overseeing assigned games to make sure the score and time are accurate and that rules are followed, and participant safety is maintained. Intramural staff will help with set up and break down of the facility, recording stats, communicating correct policies/procedures and maintaining equipment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Attend all officials training sessions and demonstrate proficiency in understanding of rules and officiating.
  • Ensure a safe environment for intramural participants by inspecting the play area before the competition and creating a safe environment for play.
  • Call al intramural contests with complete honesty and integrity
  • Responsible for the complete game control of all officiated Intramural contests which includes: managing player and spectators on the field/court, enforcing established rules during intramural competitions, enforce and evaluating sportsmanship of intramural teams and participants, etc.
  • Assist with pre and post-game logistics, administrative functions, and field/court setup and clean.
  • Responsible for preparing incident and safety checklists reports, contacting the appropriate personnel and understand emergency/evacuation procedures.
  • Must maintain strict adherence to all policies.
  • Communicate game information to other officials, scorekeeper, and team captains.
  • Check in all participants and teams before each competition. In addition to checking them in also ensure correct attire of each participant, no jewelry or prohibited equipment etc.
  • Provide a friendly, upbeat and customer service oriented environment at all times.
  • Report results, scores of intramural competition, and verbal and written communication to the intramural supervisor.
  • Handle onsite disputes involving player conflict and rule interpretation.
  • Assist in specific special events.
  • Adhere to department dress code
  • Other duties as assigned

Customer Service & Collaboration:

  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with various A.S. and University departments

Safety:

  • Ensures all operations are conducted with safety of staff and customers as first priority, and in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and other safety policies.
  • Reports accidents to supervisor and reviews changes required to avoid reoccurrence.
  • Reports maintenance problems and/or broken and unsafe equipment to the appropriate party or supervisor immediately

Requirements:

Must be a currently enrolled California State University Fullerton student in good academic standing

  • Must complete:
    • Bloodborne Pathogens
    • Campus Health and Safety Requirements
    • CSU’S Discrimination Harassment Prevention Program
    • Data Security and FERPA
    • Gender Equity and Title IX
    • Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)
    • First Aid/CPR/AED

Work Environment:

  • This position requires standing for long periods of time as shifts are approximately 4-6 hours long
  • The work environment is generally favorable
  • Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water
  • Moderate noise level
  • Active and very lively environment
