The Pay Plan Analyst is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing pay plan models for our automotive sales and service teams across all Platforms. This includes working with dealership personnel to process pay plans, maintain modeling tools, and perform analysis of key compensation information. This role requires strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, as well as a solid understanding of compensation structures, data modeling, and performance-based incentive plans. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with management, HR, and payroll to ensure compensation strategies support organizational goals and drive results.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and maintains compensation and incentive pay plans for variable roles including sales, service, finance & insurance, and support departments.
  • Uses advanced Excel functions (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, macros) to build dynamic, scalable models and templates.
  • Collaborates with HR and department managers to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments to existing compensation structures.
  • Proactively identifies discrepancies, errors, or inconsistencies in pay plans, payroll data, and performance metrics; takes initiative to investigate and resolve issues.
  • Ensures compliance with labor laws, internal equity policies, and industry benchmarks.
  • Supports audits, data requests, and internal reporting needs related to compensation.
  • Creates documentation, process guides, and version control systems to ensure transparency and repeatability in all compensation models.
  • Independently manages the end-to-end lifecycle of pay plan development—from concept through testing to implementation—while adhering to project timelines.
  • Builds and maintains modeling tools and pay plan templates for manager use.
  • Develops and maintains audit trails to ensure compliance and accuracy across all pay plan requests.
  • Works closely with HR, Legal, and Compensation to standardize all pay elements and language for the templates.
  • Maintains exceptional accuracy in compensation modeling, data validation, and reporting, ensuring error-free results in high-stakes environments.
  • Responds swiftly and effectively to time-sensitive requests, last-minute changes, and leadership priorities without sacrificing quality or completeness.
  • Assists with workflow routings as needed within DocuSign.
  • Performs other related duties to benefit the mission/vision of the organization

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a compensation analyst, payroll analyst, or HR data role—preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with automotive dealership operations and pay practices (preferred).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Understanding of sales performance metrics and KPIs in the automotive space.
