Compensation: $200,000-$275,000 / Annually (Compensation can and will be based on Performance and Experience)

As our Used Car Sales Manager, you will be a key strategic partner responsible for the entire used vehicle operation. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in inventory management, sales strategy, and team development to drive significant growth and contribute to the overall success of our dealership.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sales Leadership:Develop, implement, and continually refine aggressive sales strategies and tactics to achieve and exceed sales volume, gross profit, and customer satisfaction targets for the used vehicle department.
  • Inventory Optimization:Proactively manage all aspects of used vehicle inventory, including appraisal, acquisition (trade-ins, auctions, wholesale), reconditioning, merchandising, and pricing to ensure optimal stock levels and maximum profitability.
  • Team Development & Performance:Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and motivate a high-performing used car sales team. Set clear performance expectations, provide ongoing coaching, conduct regular performance reviews, and foster a positive and productive sales culture.
  • Financial Oversight:Prepare and manage the annual operating budget for the used vehicle department, closely monitoring sales performance, analyzing financial reports, and controlling expenses to ensure maximum profitability.
  • Guest Experience Excellence:Champion a Guest-centric approach, ensuring every guest receives an exceptional and transparent buying experience. Promptly address and resolve any customer concerns to maintain high customer satisfaction ratings.
  • Market Analysis:Stay abreast of local and national market trends, competitive landscapes, auction activity, and vehicle valuations to make informed purchasing and pricing decisions.
  • Compliance & Best Practices:Ensure strict adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations governing used vehicle sales, as well as dealership policies and procedures.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Collaborate effectively with other dealership departments, including New Car Sales, Finance & Insurance (F&I), Service, and Marketing, to ensure seamless operations and maximize overall dealership success.
  • Reporting & Analytics:Generate and present comprehensive sales reports to senior management, providing actionable insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in automotive sales, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role within a used vehicle department.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding sales and profitability targets in a high-volume used car environment.
  • Proven leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a sales force.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with proficiency in sales data analysis and market trend interpretation.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of used vehicle appraisal, reconditioning processes, and inventory management best practices.
  • Familiarity with dealership management systems (DMS) and customer relationship management (CRM) software.
  • A strong work ethic, a results-driven mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
