Job Summary
As the Plating, you'll oversee our automated and semi-automated plating operations, where precision and performance are key. You’ll manage all aspects of plating production—from workflow optimization and quality to maintenance and safety compliance. In addition to the production floor, you'll also oversee the on-site plating lab, ensuring accurate testing, data analysis, and continuous process improvements. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity to apply your technical expertise in electrochemistry, materials science, engineering, chemical processing or other STEM type experience, while driving innovation, reliability, and efficiency.
Job Responsibilities
• Apply a working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), root cause analysis, and AS9100 quality standards to ensure continuous process improvement and compliance.
• Manage and update data-driven process control systems using statistical methods to optimize production and maintain quality performance.
• Collect, analyze, and report on production metrics to identify trends, support decision-making, and drive operational efficiency.
• Ensure all environmental practices comply with local, state, and federal regulations, coordinating with EHS to maintain reporting standards and sustainability initiatives (OSHA, EPA, DNR, NFPA, etc.).
• Oversee cost analysis and budgeting strategies to support efficient resource utilization and process optimization.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily plating operations to meet production goals and customer specifications while maintaining safety, quality, and delivery standards.
• Analyze production data and operational reports to troubleshoot issues, minimize downtime, and reduce costs.
• Develop, revise, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring adherence to best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical expertise across production areas.
• Support equipment reliability through a working knowledge of plating system design, maintenance, and operational best practices.
• Define and maintain standards and specifications for plating processes, facilities, and product quality.
• Lead training programs by conducting needs assessments, preparing budgets, and ensuring alignment with operational and compliance requirements.
• Implement and monitor training effectiveness for employees on SOPs, quality standards, process validation, and safety protocols.
• Conduct periodic audits of operations to evaluate program effectiveness and ensure safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
• Protect themselves and their co-workers by adhering to all company safety & health policies.
• Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and/or safety coordinator.
• Must work with the EHS department to ensure all local, state, and federal regulatory agencies requirements are met; OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA and Amphenol sustainability practices.
• Must work with the Quality department to ensure all quality standards are met for AS9100 certification.
• Comply with company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelors in Chemical Engineering, Material Science Engineering or related STEM type Degree
- 1 to 2 years related experience OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical:
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stooping, twist, reach, reach overhead.
- Must be able to lift and carry 0-50lbs. frequently
