Job Title: Buyer / Material Analyst
Department: Purchasing
Reports To: Purchasing Manager  

The position requires candidates to be U.S. persons as defined in ITAR, 22CFR 120.15 (U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien Status)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  The buyer / material analyst is responsible for executing purchase order in support of companies’ production and customer supporting activities.  This includes selecting suppliers, determining efficient order quantities, managing inventory levels, managing supplier delivery dates, and driving improvements in supplier performance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Place purchase orders to support Amphenol production and customer support activities.
  • Maintain purchasing system and part file integrity by reviewing and updating piece part costs and other related item master attributes.
  • Maintain purchased part inventory at efficient levels.
  • Ensure order quantities are appropriate to maintain efficient inventory.
  • Expedite materials needed to support the production schedule and minimum inventory requirements.
  • Work with suppliers to improve delivery lead times and reduce ordering quantities.
  • Work with engineering during new product development and design reviews so part and product requirements are understood and can be properly communicated to external suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier searches for fabricated and commercial products.
  • Analyze manufacturing database and generate plans for optimizing product flow to obtain on time delivery.  Develop long- and short-term production plans for assigned products.
  • Communicate with Production Planning and other activities regarding deviation in schedules.
  • Evaluate and maintain stocking levels for various parts and assemblies as well as make recommendations for stocking levels.
  • Provide feedback to sales on lead times required for quotes and orders.
  • Ensure supplier contract and timeline compliance.
  • Support replenishment systems for all purchased materials
  • Executing day to day activities including monitoring incoming shipments.
  • Purchase Order data entry, all product (new and existing) for product line(s) support.
  • Maintain purchase order files.Timely resolution for receiving issues associated with purchase orders and accounts payable

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Solid understanding in the principles, methods, and procedures of purchasing, supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Strong analytical skills; detail oriented. 
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a complex environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong understanding of ERP / MRP.
  • Team player: ability to work well with others within department and with other departments.
  • Travel up to 10% may be required.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing costs preferred.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Four year College or University program certificate preferred; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Must possess knowledge of inventory control and storage.
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to satisfy AFSI ITAR requirements.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing organization.
