Residential Property Appraisal Deputy – Fieldwork
Location: Allen County, IN
Department: Assessment Division
Schedule: 37.5 hours/week (Monday–Friday), occasional overtime
Reports to: Senior Assessment Team Leader – Fieldwork
What You’ll Be Doing
Do you enjoy working independently, being outside, and using technology? Are you the kind of person who notices details others miss? We're looking for a Residential Appraisal Deputy to help make sure homes and agricultural properties in Allen County are assessed fairly and accurately.
This is a field-based role with time in the office too. You’ll be visiting neighborhoods, measuring homes and structures, collecting data, and entering it into our specialized software. The work you do helps ensure a fair and balanced property tax system for everyone in our community.

A Day in the Life
Visit residential and agricultural properties for inspections
Measure buildings and yard structures to ensure accurate records
Compare what you see on-site with what’s in the system – and make updates
Use computer systems like CAMA and GIS mapping tools
Analyze satellite images to spot changes in property features
Explain assessments and answer questions from homeowners and property owners
Help ensure accuracy through data audits and team collaboration

What You Need to Apply
High School Diploma or GED
1+ year of experience in customer service, sales, data entry, or similar
Willingness and ability to earn your Indiana Level II Assessor-Appraiser certification within 6 months (we help with this!)
Commitment to earning Level III within 18 months after Level II
Experience with measuring or evaluating property is a plus – but not required
Solid computer skills – Microsoft Office, email, and learning specialized software
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Work Environment
A mix of fieldwork and office work
You'll be on your feet a lot, walking, measuring, and inspecting
Must be comfortable working in various weather conditions
Occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs), climbing stairs, bending, or reaching
