Student and Campus Life Community Coordinator

Position Summary

At Albright College, student success begins with a strong sense of belonging. The Student and Campus Life Community Coordinator is a live-on, full-time professional staff member who plays a critical role in creating an inclusive, engaging, and welcoming campus environment both within the residence halls and through campus wide activities. Living in a college-provided apartment within the residence halls, the Coordinator builds deep, meaningful connections with students and helps foster a vibrant community that supports student retention and personal development.

This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about student development, community-building, and helping students thrive both personally and academically in a small liberal arts college setting. The Coordinator is a visible, accessible presence on campus—especially in the residence halls—and works collaboratively to ensure every student feels at home at Albright.

Key Responsibilities

Community Development & Student Retention

• Build strong, inclusive residential communities by living among students and serving as a trusted point of contact and support.
• Proactively identify and support students who may be at risk of disengagement or departure.
• Work closely with the Student Success Coach to identify concerns early, coordinate outreach, and implement interventions that promote student retention and persistence.
• Develop and implement community-building initiatives that foster belonging and promote meaningful peer and faculty/staff connections.
• Engage campus partners and the broader community to enhance the student experience and support student well-being.

Residential Life

• Supervise, train, and mentor a team of Resident Assistants (RAs), helping them support and engage their residential communities.
• Serve in a professional on-call rotation to provide crisis response and support during emergencies.
• Support key residential operations including move-in/move-out processes, room inspections, and facilities follow-up.
• Uphold community standards and promote a living environment that is safe, respectful, and conducive to academic success.
• Maintain a visible, approachable presence within the residence halls by living on campus in a college-provided apartment.

Student Engagement & Programming

• Plan and implement co-curricular events that promote student involvement, leadership, and community—particularly in evenings and on weekends.
• Advise and support student clubs and organizations with budgeting, leadership development, and event planning.
• Coordinate major student life events including Welcome Week, Homecoming, and multicultural or mission-based celebrations.
• Promote campus events through effective communication strategies and social media outreach.

Administrative & Professional Development

• Maintain accurate records related to residence life, incident reporting, and student programming.
• Attend departmental meetings, trainings, and campus-wide initiatives that support student development and retention.
• Contribute to a collaborative and innovative Student and Campus Life team, and take on other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated experience supporting students from a wide range of backgrounds.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• A sincere commitment to student-centered service and inclusive community-building.
• Must live on campus in a college-provided apartment as a condition of employment.

Preferred:

• At least one year of professional relevant experience in residential life, student leadership, or peer mentorship.
• Familiarity with event planning, student development theory, and residence hall operations.
• Interest in working with special student populations (e.g., international students, commuters, first-generation students, etc.).
