Registrar
Albright College seeks a highly effective and mission-driven leader to serve as Registrar. Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Registrar will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the College’s academic records and student information. The Registrar will be asked to assess the operations of the Registrar’s Office against national best practices and ensure that its policies and methods are robust, efficient, and make the best possible use of its staff and its current technology. In addition, the Registrar will be an energetic and visible campus leader in the area of student success and retention. The Registrar will drive collaboration with the Offices of Enrollment, Academic Affairs, Student and Campus Life, and others across campus to ensure that all members of the Albright community understand the factors that enable students to succeed at Albright and can work together to ensure a campus environment in which all can thrive.
The next Registrar will be expected to address the following priorities:
- Oversee the operations of the Registrar’s Office, from evaluating current practices, to mentoring staff, to building and maintaining strong cross-campus relationships with a wide range of constituencies and individuals;
- Provide collaborative and inspiring leadership for student success efforts by working closely with partners across campus to understand the student experience from the beginning of the enrollment funnel through post-graduation;
- Seek ways to continually improve the integrity and efficiency of student records related processes of the College, including current and archived grades, transcripts, degrees awarded, probation, dismissal, enrollments, course history, semester progress reports, as well as graduation audit records;
- Coordinate support for the admissions process for both the day and evening academic programs through placements, transcript evaluations, and transfer credits for traditional and adult undergraduate students;
- Provide advice and consultation on peer norms, industry best practices, and future trends;
- Develop the annual Academic Calendar and each term’s Schedule of Courses for the College, in collaboration with administration and faculty, maximizing the availability of offerings to students, and optimizing the use of classroom resources;
- Collaborate with faculty committees responsible for policies regarding grades, scheduling, major and minors, probation, dismissal, advisor/advisees, room assignments, and equivalency agreements with other institutions;
- Participate in the work of the Educational Policy Council, the Curriculum Development Committee, and other related groups;
- Work with the Office of Academic Affairs to produce the web-based Academic Catalog;
- Collaborate with the Office of Digital Strategy and Infrastructure to optimize the use of PowerCampus and related student information systems;
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, accreditor, and institutional regulations and policies for enrollment-related student and faculty functions, applying industry best practice; and,
- Provide support, mentorship, and professional development to the Registrar’s Office staff in order to enable them to fully serve the mission and goals of Albright College.
As a leadership-level staff member, the Registrar should be deeply knowledgeable about data and information management in a higher education setting and have a strong understanding of the factors underlying student success and retention. An advanced degree is preferable, and the ability to work collaboratively across diverse constituencies is essential. In addition, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following complementary abilities and experiences to their work:
