DESCRIPTION OF POSITION’S ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the general direction of the Environmental Manager, the Environmental Engineer will coordinate the groundwater and surface water hydrologic monitoring and reporting as required by the company’s mining and discharge permits, and coordinate the company’s air quality permits. The Environmental Engineer will also provide necessary hydrologic design and construction support for mining permit applications and approval.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

A BS degree in Civil, Mining or Environmental Engineering is required.  Registration as an Engineer-In-Training is highly recommended; registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred.  Minimum of 5 years in mining or related experience is preferred.  Experience in database and computer programs such as AutoCAD, Carlson, Word, Access and Excel is required.

 

Knowledge of surface coal mining methods, operating procedures and economics is preferred.  Knowledge of engineering requirements of permit applications and appropriate state and federal laws/regulations is also preferred.  Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state regulations and laws governing surface and groundwater is required.

 

The successful candidate will be able to work in a team atmosphere, both as a team leader and a team member; have strong analytical and evaluative problem solving skills; be able to prepare, monitor, and maintain project schedules; and effectively communicate with contemporaries, professionals in other departments, consultants/contractors, and management.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION’S ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Westmoreland Rosebud Mining LLC, a surface coal mine in Colstrip, MT is seeking a Permit Coordinator.  The Permit Coordinator works under the general direction of the Environmental Manager. 

Responsibilities will include preparing & submitting permit documents required for mining operations.  This includes mining permits, renewals, amendments and minor revisions.  Coordinating responses for DEQ comments on permit documents, preparing and submitting annual mining reports to the various regulatory authorities.   Coordinating bond calculations for all mining areas, reviewing and submitting bond release applications.  Act as primary contact with Montana DEQ.  Keeping state and federal exploration permits and bond current and monitoring changes in regulations and legislation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

BS in Engineering or Science, general knowledge of Montana and Federal regulations, computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and AutoCAD are required.  Must be able to communicate effectively with the public and regulatory agencies, both verbally and written.

 

  • Must comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards of safety.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company standards to ensure insurability.
  • Pre-employment screenings, including drug screening and background checks, will be conducted on all candidates receiving a conditional offer.
