Summary/Purpose

Plans, coordinates, and directs quality assurance program designed to ensure continuous improvements and production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Formulates and maintains quality control objectives and coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with Quality Area Manager to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Coordinates activities to ensure quality of products meets specifications
  • Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
  • Assists in investigation of customer complaints regarding quality complaints.
  • Assists in quality planning and execution of established control plans.
  • Helps directs the implementation and maintenance of the quality policy, quality procedures and instructions.
  • Makes management aware if corrective and preventative actions are not being followed as required.
  • Insures all tests and inspection procedures are carried out.
  • Continually increase “quality awareness” in all associates and suppliers.
  • Identify and complete training requirements for quality associates.
  • Works with the Quality Specialists to develop or revises quality standards and working practices to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data relative to product quality.
  • Provides on-the-job training to subordinates and develops and maintains training performance metrics.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates associate’s hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Interprets and enforces company policies, rules and procedures to associates.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.  Note, the Group Leader may, following review of quality analysis, stop production process if quality issues warrant such actions.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and attendance, quality, scrap, etc. records.
  • Directs and coordinates the day to day work assignments of Auditors and Inspectors.
  • Interface with all levels in the organization using verbal, written and sometimes, graphical communication tools to ensure efficient quality methods and results.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct Reports: Quality Auditors and end of line pack out and inspection associates.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from four year college or university preferred; or AS degree and five to seven years related experience and/or training.  A non-degreed candidate with an equivalent level experience as a quality leader or quality technician in a related industry can also be considered as qualified for this position.

  • Work is mostly performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
  • The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
  • Possible travel by automobile and plane required approximately 0 to 5% of time.
