Summary/Purpose
|
Coordinate Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs within Walhalla Plant to meet corporate standards, whilst working closely with and mentoring all levels of the organization.
|
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
|
- Implement Corporate Safety programs.
- Develop, mentor and lead Safety Guardians.
- Schedules, Tracks and Conducts Safety Training as per OSHA requirements.
- Conducts routine safety and environmental inspectionsand leads the Safety Guardian program.
- Leadplant 5S and EHS inspection programs.
- Acquire all EHS Training and Certifications necessary to progress in job capabilities / responsibilities.
- Coordinate IS014001 & ISO45001 Programs, including responsibilities defined in EMS-1000-4-0002 F2.
- Lead internal auditing program, including audit calendar and auditor certification.
- Mentor annual waste elimination / minimization program.
- Conduct Corporate New Equipment Safety and Commissioning Process in conjunction with Engineering Manager and project teams.
- Provide support for plant Safety systems (Fire Protection, Electrical Safety, Machine Safety Devices, Mist Collection and Air Ventilation Systems)
- Coordinate Plant Emergency Response and Disaster Preparedness Program including periodical evacuation drills.
- Coordinate and manage first responders, first aid room and safety supplies.
- Coordinate Ergonomic Analysis and Improvement Program.

- Coordinate Industrial Hygiene Program (including indoor ventilation and air quality testing, mist collection, etc.)
- Coordinate annual hearing tests and training.
- Coordinate and manage SDS records.
- Maintain compliance with all safety and environmental regulations & laws (OSHA, DHEC, Federal, State & Local Laws)
- Complete all Environmental Reporting requirements (including Hazardous Waste Reports) and Maintain Records in conjunction with ISO 14001 requirements.
- Maintain all applicable permits and licenses.
- Drive incident investigation, root cause analysis and reporting.
- Design training simulations to be used with new associates to perform job tasks safely (DOJO)
- Lead cross functional teams in job and area risk assessments.
- Partner with Maintenance Supervisor to audit LOTO practices.
- Maintain and improve contractor training program.
- Maintain and improve fire risk control, maps, and policies.
- Work with all levels of the organization to monitor and improve the safety within their areas of responsibility by tracking and communicating safety KPIs at FMDS & leadership meetings.
- Build and improve plant safety standards and policies (painting schemes, signage, instructions)
- Primary plant contact to corporate EH&S team.
- Work closely with other JTEKT plant Safety Coordinators, including benchmarking of best practices.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have excellent interpersonal and mentoring skills, ideally with experience in training.
|
Proficient with Computers (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
|
Safety & Environmental Laws/Regulations
Cursory Knowledge of Workers Compensation
Education and Experience:
|
College degree in associated discipline preferred, or 2 to 4 years related experience.
|
