SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, the Hangar Operations Support Technician is an integral part in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of aircraft maintenance operations within the hangar. This position provides essential support to maintenance personnel, ensures the efficiency and cleanliness of the hangar, and contributes to maintaining an overall safe work environment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

MAINTENANCE ASSISTANCE (80% of job):

  • Caters and de-caters aircraft.
  • Moves LAVs and GALLEYs to and from Back-Shop areas.
  • Removes, loads, and transports aircraft seats.
  • Transfers life vests from old seats to new seats.
  • May assist with aircraft cleaning.
  • Provides spotting assistance for mechanics and Quality Control (QC) personnel through various maintenance tasks. 
  • Performs cleaning tasks on engine cowl surfaces.
  • Retapes wheels and other relevant components as needed for maintenance and safety purposes.
  • Communicates effectively with other maintenance personnel at all levels by keeping co-workers and leadership apprised of work progress and difficulties as they arise.
  • Responsible for accurately clocking into jobs.

HANGAR FLOOR (20% of job):

  • Gathers any items needed from other locations and pick-up areas.
  • Locates ladders, carts, tools, and any items needed at the request of the mechanic.
  • Moves off units to temporary staging areas.
  • Coordinates with Supply Chain Logistics (SCL) for deliveries.
  • General housekeeping of the hangar floor including disposal of scrap metal, scrap wood, carboard and other refuse, emptying hangar floor trash, sweeping entryways, and helping with emergency spill and containment.
  • Performs Foreign Object Debris (FOD) walk and sweep in hangar bays.
  • Bi-monthly inspection of all chemical cabinets and disposal of expired items.
  • Cleans out alodine tank weekly.
  • Notifies lead of any blood borne pathogen or pest control issues.
  • Inspects worktables for serviceable condition and routes unserviceable tables out for repair.
  • Cleans sanding rooms and removes accumulated sanding debris from floors.
  • Returns all chemicals, cleco’s, rags, bottle jacks, and shoring to their proper locations.
  • Rolls up and stows extension cords, air hoses, and lights when not in use.

 

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

AUTHORITY:

This position is prohibited from performing any safety sensitive functions to include the accomplishment or direct supervision of the following:

  • Aircraft maintenance – This includes inspection, overhaul, repair, preservation, and the replacement of parts.
  • Aircraft preventive maintenance – This includes simple or minor preservation operations and the replacement of small standard parts.

 

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITY:

Duties shall include observing all company, health, safety and environmental rules, ensure provision of full information on area specific safety orientation, identify all unique hazards, and are provided with the proper equipment to carry out the job in a safe manner. Also, the entire work area must be routinely inspected to maintain a high standard of housekeeping and low incidence of physical hazards and all accidents must be promptly reported.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to qualify for operation of high lifts, scissor lifts and other equipment.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • General Labor experience highly preferred.
  • Experience in Aviation or MRO preferred.

 

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit, stand, and walk; use their hands and arms; and talk or hear; and focus on objects close up. The employee may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds using proper lifting protocols.

 

Compensation

The base salary for this position is $18.56 - $24.13 (expressed as hourly for non-exempt), exclusive of benefits or potential bonuses. The lower end of the range represents the target base pay for those beginning or developing in the role. The higher end of the range is intended for those who have mastered the role, with proven significant expertise, high achievement, and specialized skills. If you are hired at ATS, your hourly rate will be based on factors such as skills, education and experience. In addition to those factors – we consider internal equity of our current employees when determining offers. This position is eligible for an annual bonus. We also offer a generous benefits package, as detailed below.
