Location: Jamestown, ND

Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Job Schedule: Full Time 

Weekly Hours: 40

 

 

JOB SUMMARY 

The Human Resource Generalist advises, coaches, counsels and provides guidance to managers and employees on policies, procedures, programs, employee relations, performance management and other human resources areas.  This position assists in the day-to-day operations and coverage of the Human Resource department.  The Human Resource Generalist reports to the Director of Human Resources. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements)

 

Education and/or years’ experience required:

  • Requires BA/BS in Human Resources, Business or equivalent or commensurate experience in Human Resources
  • Two years’ experience in Human Resources role as generalist or relationship management or equivalent
  • Two years’ experience recruiting and onboarding new employees
  • Valid North Dakota driver’s license 

 

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience with employments laws and regulations
  • PHR or SPHR certification
  • Experience working in remote locations
  • Experience working with a Human Resource Information System (HRIS). 

 

Supervision of others/decision making aptitude (if applicable): This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Demonstrates ability to provide customers with high quality advice and support in the management of their HR needs to achieve departmental and organizational needs.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide input and assist with implementation of human resources strategies and initiatives in support the manager and employee needs.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide advice, guidance and coaching on HR-related policies, employee relations issues, including compliance/legal issues, performance management, progressive discipline, and ensuring appropriate documentation.  Ensure all issues are resolved in an efficient, legal and ethical manner and appropriate documentation is completed. 
  • Demonstrates ability to assist managers in recruitment; partners with hiring managers to make strong hiring decisions based upon competencies of the positions.  
  • Demonstrates ability to conduct sourcing, pre-screening, interviewing, employment offer, background screening, drug-testing, etc. to ensure great experience for the new employees.
  • Demonstrates ability to assist Employee Health and may serve as a resource for questions concerning leaves including Leave of Absence and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
  • Demonstrates knowledge of HRIS to assist with questions from staff and management. 
  • Demonstrates ability to participate as a member of the Human Resources team and contributes to a positive work environment, contributing to the team’s goals and ensures ongoing communication with the team to share successes, challenges, feedback and lessons learned.
  • Demonstrates ability to apply compensation policy for new employee hires accurately and consistently. 
  • Assists with the recruitment and onboarding process to align with ACC mission to include publishing and reviewing of job postings accordingly on company and various job boards, coordinating with hiring manager on the hiring process. 
  • Demonstrates ability to assist with creation and revision of job descriptions as needed.
  • Demonstrates ability to follow all Anne Carlsen policies and procedures.
