The Job Profile
Simon & Schuster UK is looking for a motivated Adult/Children's Commercial Finance, in this newly created role to join the Commercial Finance team. Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance, the successful candidate will be responsible for strategic financial support, providing robust analysis, cost control, and commercial insight, along with recommendations to drive profitability and support business decisions across the Adult Publishing Division.
The Job Role
As the Adult/Children's Commercial Finance Manager, you will play a key role in providing financial insight and support throughout the publishing lifecycle, from acquisition to post-publication analysis.
In this role, you will partner across Editorial, Sales, Marketing, Publicity and Production to offer commercial guidance, evaluate financial performance, and support strategic initiatives using financial modelling, cost control, and delivering clear, data-driven recommendations.
With the support of the Head of Commercial Finance you will lead monthly divisional meetings and oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to drive informed decision-making and profitability.

The Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with at least 1 year of post-qualification experience (PQE) in a similar commercial finance or a financial reporting role. They will have a strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and business partnering, ideally within a publishing or media environment.
They should possess excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. A keen eye for detail, the ability to meet deadlines, and a proactive, problem-solving approach are essential.
Experience working with senior stakeholders and providing insightful financial recommendations to drive business performance is highly desirable.
