The Job Profile
Simon & Schuster UK’s Adult Editorial Non-Fiction team is looking for commissioning editor to join their team to strategically build on our growing list of smart non-fiction, business and sport titles, both domestic and international.
Reporting to the Deputy Publishing Director Non-Fiction, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to commission their own list alongside managing core brand titles.
The Job Role
The predominant purpose of the role is to expand Non-fiction’s current publishing programme by commissioning smart thinking, business and sport titles. Alongside acquiring new projects, the Commissioning Editor will oversee the management of our backlist of core brands. You will manage titles at every stage of the process, from reviewing submissions and negotiating contracts, to liaising with colleagues across the business on frontlist publications, as well as maximising the potential of books on our backlist.
The Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge and understanding of the non-fiction market, and a particular interest in business, finance, big ideas, and sport.
They will have the ability to manage their workload efficiently, and take titles from acquisition to final publication. They will have the confidence and poise to be an ambassador and champion for Simon & Schuster UK both internally and externally. They will have the ability to build strong relationships across the publishing industry, both in the UK and internationally.
